What is Bakumatsu Shishi?

Bakumatsu Shishi are a Japanese Let's Play duo consisting of two individuals who go by the pseudonyms of Sakamoto Ryouma and Saigou Takamori, loosely based on the historical figures of the same name.

The two began activities in 2008 with their upload of Bakumatsu Shishi Play Kunio-kun's Historical Drama, #1 幕末志士達のくにおくん時代劇実況　其の壱 (link).

On May 2nd 2020, Saigou graduated from Bakumatsu Shishi, bringing an end to one chapter of their story. Their legacy lives on with Sakamoto, who has chosen to operate solo.
